:

Dear Sir/Madam,

Following successful workshops on 'Molecular Targets for Cancer' in 2006, 2007 and 2008 I would like to invite you and/or your organisation to a workshop on Trends in Translational Cancer Research in Bergen Norway, on 28 and 29 September 2009.

It aims to to determine strategic cancer research priorities, disseminate and discuss validation of novel molecular cancer targets, as well as to identify bottlenecks and solutions. The workshop's sessions are 'Early detection and diagnosis', 'Treatment and care of cancer patients and survivors', 'Haematological cancers', and 'Host-tumour interactions and treatment outcome', respectively. The number of attendees is limited to approximately 200.

Currently, more than one hundred EC-funded, translational cancer research projects are ongoing following peer-reviewed calls for proposals launched during the Sixth and Seventh Framework Programmes' HEALTH' priority. We would like to gather scientists working on translational cancer research from those and other pan-European networks as well as policymakers and industrial representatives. Scientific posters will be on display throughout the workshop. To stimulate participation of junior scientists, registration fees and hotel costs have been kept low. To facilitate transfer from/to the beautifully situated meeting venue (Solstrand Hotel), transport to/from nearby Bergen airport has been arranged.

For details on this year's event see http://www.uib.no/med/moleculartargets/

We look forward to your participation and hope you will join us in Bergen.
